I'm not a fan of spending my weekends making even more resources for the classroom - well, OK, lesson plans and worksheets are normally fine, but baking? I don't think so! When I discovered that my amazing colleague, Mrs Donaldson, made playdough in the classroom as an activity, I realised that was the way forward for me.

Making playdough is a great activity if you are doing procedural writing, is fantastic for building fine motor strength and skills, and can be done with very few ingredients and equipment. I used the "no cook play dough" recipe from bestrecipes.com.au. I started with only half a cup of water with a dash of disinfectant (recommended by other teachers as a preservative and anti-eating agent) and added a touch of water or flour as needed to develop the right consistency. Here is a photo of our first attempt, a test run at home...each lump is one batch of the recipe.
